How does it feel to be 2001, 2003, 2004, Number one girl?: It's
pretty cool. I never dreamed of winning national titles, and then when I won
one when I was 10 and was totally pumped about it, but I figured that was
it. Then in 2003 I won the Girl Cruiser title and that was really cool, because
I was kind of bummed that rider count had put me out of the Girl title 2 years
in a row. So, a cruiser title made me pretty happy. Last year however, was
really the icing on the cake. I never could've imagined of winning both National
titles in the same year. It was really an honor and a dream come true.
Do you feel more pressure is on you then before?: Umm,
not really. You'd think people would expect more from me because of what an
incredible year I had last year, but the pressure is still the same as it
always has been. Everyone still just expects me to try my hardest and give
it my all, because that's really all you can ask from anyone.
How is it riding for Hyper?: I truly
love the team! The people are great, everyone is an awesome rider, and best
of all we're like a family. Everyone just gets along so well and we all hang
out outside of the track too, so it's really a fun atmosphere. And the bikes...UNBELIEVABLE!
I absolute love the Hyper frames and all the other sponsor things we get.
Everything is really nice and cool.
Do you think you will be able to regain the title this year?: I'm
hoping. If I can keep working hard and stay on top, it will all pretty much
just come down to rider count again. Unfortunately though, my rider count
hasn't been looking the best lately, but I'm still going to try my hardest
and be happy no matter what the outcome is.
When do you plan on turning pro?: I'm
not sure. I've been thinking about going right when I turn 15, but I'm not
sure what I want to do yet. Those girls are top notch and I don't want to
race them until I’m ready for it. So, I guess I will turn whenever my
speed and skills allow me to!
Name your top three favorite amateurs: It's
hard to name just three, but I'd have to go with...Mike Lundy, Jeff Upshaw,
and after that it's a close call between Sean Lechner, Josh Oie, and the great
Joey Bradford, haha.
Name your top three favorite pros: I'd have
to say my three Staats buddies...Paulie Lange, Mikey Day, and Nate Berkheimer
Favorite food?: Pretty much anything
that's bad for you...and pickles!
Favorite Drink?: I really like hot chocolate
in the cold winter time!
Personal Hero?: Kim Hayashi. That girl is amazing.
She works so incredibly hard and she is my favorite girl pro to watch. She
has the speed and skills of a boy, and that's awesome! Haha. She's so enthusiastic
and motivated its awesome. Not to mention, she's the coolest person ever to
hang out with.
Do you train?: Yeah. Most of my training
is my other sports though. I'm in gymnastics year round and that's a lot of
training. I'm also in track in the spring and that's a great help too. I do
some other sports, but I'd have to say those two are my main cross training
sports. I'll go on streaks however where I actually go on a BMX specified
training program. Like, after Reno last year I started training and trained
until the Grands and it really paid off. So, I'm going to get on it again
and start trying to ride like a girl pro!
What was the last thing you bought?: More than
likely clothes.
Favorite thing about BMX?: The travel and getting
to meet people from all around.
Least favorite thing about BMX?: The drama.
There's WAY to much gossip in BMX.
Name Game
Will Rells: The funniest guy ever! He's very
cool and he's the best team manager/owner ever! He's very encouraging and
helps try to get everyone to be doing their best!
Terra Nichols: One of my BRF'S (best racer
friends)! She's a great racer and really fun to hang out with!
Shelbi Long: Another BRF! She's great competition and awesome to chill with!
Jessica Rodolf: wow, another BRF! haha, she
was an unbelievable rider! I wish she would come back and eat strawberries
with me! She's really an awesome girl! Miss her a lot and hope she gets back
on the national circuit!
Kim Hayashi: Amazing. Enough said.
Josh Oie: Funny
kid with unbelievable manualing skills haha! He's really fun to hang out with!
He helps me out with my WAAA's too...haha
Joey Bradford: He's like my brother. We've
been together since Staats and it's really weird not being on the same team
as him this year, but he's still around all the time! haha, couldn't live
without the kid!
2005 Goals?: I'm going to try to win all my
class and cruiser national mains this year (that'll be really tough!!) and
I'm going to try to go for every title on both bikes again this year...last
year I missed out by one cruiser main at the ROC race...hopefully my rider
count will be good again this year and I can stay on top!
Thanks?: I just want to say thanks to all my
sponsors, and some of my major old sponsors such as FLY, STAATS, and Avent/Bombshell.
I'd also like to thank TJ Johnson, Will Rells, Clay, Anthony DeRosa, Jack
McDaniel, all my Minnesotans that are here for me all the time, all my team
mates, new and old, my family, and most of all my mom and dad!
