What would be a normal day for Robbie Miranda?: Recently, I have been going to school for Real Estate. But usually I do odd things until about 3pm and then go to the trails. It may sound like the easy life but thats just the days at home. All the other days are sitting on planes, in cars traveling to the next place. That can get old, so when Im home I like to keep it simple.
You won the X-Games.... how was that?: An amazing day. The year before when I crashed at the finish line was just as amazing but winning was like closing a book that you have been trying to finish forever. I thought about that race for 365 days and when it was all over I felt so relieved to have won it.
How come you don't race to much?: A number of reasons. First off, I'm bored with racing these days. I've been racing the same tracks for 17 years now and they are getting boring. Nothing has evolved as far as tracks go and pedaling fast is all you need to win these days. I'm motivated by technical tracks that are fun to race. I'm having more fun at the trails and skateparks these days rather than going to to track. When I go to the track its so boring unless your pulling everybody.....And I could careless about pedaling fast on a wednesday night.
Do you think You will ever clip in?: Sure I've thought about it, but It's just not in my deck of cards. All my Sponsors are really supportive with my decisions and support me one way or the other. I told myself a while ago that when BMX isn't fun I'll move on to something else. I came to the conclusion that I'm not in this for a Championship, I'm just trying to promote the sport and have fun on my bike.
Hows the website?: RM59.com is just videos right now, I had my time updating all the time but It's over of now. I really don't have too much to say anyway.
Hows the sheep hills scene going right now?: We are slowly building it up. All that rain we had flooded the trails pretty bad so we are still pumping water out of there.
Tell us about the RM59 Tour?: The RM59 Tour was some of the best times I have had on my bike. These no better feeling that teaching kids something new and watching their faces light up with excitement. Believe it or not, the feeling you get when you leave a track after a clinic is very rewarding. Almost more rewarding that winning a race. For me thats how I feel. It's a huge rush to see kids learn something new and benefit from your advice. Add that together with traveling in the Motorhome all summer with a bunch of friends is awesome.
How are the races in Puerto Rico?: Just
my style, Fun. The people in Puerto Rico are all about having fun. The Island
is awesome and theres a laid back feel to the whole event. If you have the
chance, go. You'll have a great time.
What do you do for training?: I used to do all the stuff. Sprints, Gym, Track, Trails, Road Bike, Rest........ But I never got full use out of it because I couldn't stop riding all the time. My career was never "just" racing. So it wasn't uncommon for me to have a photo shoot the day before the race or some other event to attend that would interfere with my racing. In my best years as a AA I was planning the DK Trailer Jump and the Offspring Car jump along with a full schedule of Clinics all over the US. I could never just concentrate on one thing so it affected my racing.
Favotite food?: Sushi, Cereal and Pasta
Favorite Drink?: It varies, Cold Gatorade is nice even when your not sweating
Personal Hero?: Ricky Carmichael is a bad ass. He's my hero
What was the last thing you bought?: A new printer, some stakes to hold up some plants, a seat for my girlfriends road bike, 65 dollars on Gas for my Truck
Name Game:
