What would be a normall day for you?: Haha, a normal day for me, lets see...I wake up at about 4 am, go to the gym to train some clients. Fit a workout in there somewhere, go to work at 8. Work all day, check on vintage every once in a while. Go back to the gym if I didn't get my workout in. Take a nap, and then go to Jiu Jitsu.
What do you do for training?: Lots of gym, sprints, and spin class
Siblings: Ya I got 3 sisters and one brother
How did you get started in BMX?: Well when I was lil, my parents got me my first BMX bike, I started like most jumping curbs and making ramps out of wood and cinder blocks. There was a track that got started in 1987, in Riverside, CA. I went out there, signed up and I have been hooked ever since.
Who do you look up to?: Accually I really don't look up to anyone, but I admire all of those that stick with this sport through all the ups and downs. The groms are my favorite, because it is still pure for them.
What are some of your long-term goals in BMX?: Long-term, well basically to stay healthy to keep riding my bike. I do it because I love it.
Are you still in school?: NOPE
Teams you have raced for: Haha, I have been racing longer than you have been alive. Well reciently, Mini Frenzy two years ago. Last year, I didn't ride for anyone really, I just hung out with my friends at Supercamp. This year, it is JoeyBradford.com
You help a lot of people by giving them training programs and teaching clinics, is BMX your full-time job?: No, I still have a full time job. I am also a personal trainer at the gym, I work for a roofing company doing sales, and then there is BMX. It is nice to be able to make a little bit of money doing something you love like this sport.
How often do you teach a clinic or work with a rider at the track?: 2 or 3 times a week, depending on my schedule.
Who is a better announcer... you or Redman?: Well I have heard both sides of that. Haha, there are people that like me more, and there are people that like him more. I remember going to my first national, and there was Redman getting LOUD. So I would say that we compliment eachother very well. Haha, I can't believe that you can ask me that.
What made you decide to be one of ABA's main announcers?: In 2001 I broke my elbow and was bored. I went to the track someone handed my a mic, and well if you know me you know that I like to talk. It kinda just came naturally.
So I heard that you like to jump in the pool with your cell phone in your pocket?: Haha, you remember that? I had your last dry pair of shoes on, and what do you decide that you are going to do? Push Jimmy in the pool. Good times at Supercamp.
So I hear that they call you the push-up nazi at Supercamp?: Ya well I do give out a lot of push-ups.
What would it cost me to be on a Jimmy Monroe training program?: For you, well you can't afford that. For other BMXers $ 100.00. That includes everything that you need, from sprints to a diet.
What was Joey Bradford doing when you first met him?: Haha, can I say that on here? Just kidding, he was killing it at a national, it was a long time ago, but he goes fast sometimes.
Any last words: I would like to thank all my sponsors and all the groms that cheer for me when I'm in the gate. I would also like to thank Momma Posey for making me laugh when she falls down in the parking lot. I also look forward to a great year with the JoeyBradford.com crew.
